KTSG Delegation Pays Partnership Visit to Middlesex University in UK

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON has led top government officials in the State in a recent partnership visit to Middlesex University, Hendon Campus in the United Kingdom. 

Governor Radda stated that the visit aimed to explore partnership in the area of empowering agricultural workers with new digital technology skills and team up on students exchange programmes and scholarships. 

The State delegation was received by a Business Computing and Information Systems expert, Prof. George Dafoulas and UK-based Tonye Khama, CEO of EnrichGeo. The delegation was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor of Middlesex University, Prof. Shân Wareing and the Head of Computer Science Department, Dr. Aboubaker Lasebae. 

During the partnership meeting, Katsina State Government bid for European Union Funding which allows mobile innovation hubs in four African countries. With this, a large double decker bus would tour remote villages and help local farmers manage climate change with AI and digital technologies. 

Governor Radda explained that agriculture is the backbone of Katsina State economy with an estimated 75% of its population involved in farming and livestock rearing. 

The delegation which includes Chief of Staff, Hon.  Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri (Lamidon Katsina)and the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Development Management Board, Hajiya Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim among other officials were conducted round the Computer Science Department facilities and the TIME-CUBE (Technology, Innovation, Management and Entrepreneurship) incubator which supports students through teaching inspired by research. 

Governor Radda, while interacting with the MDX Nigerian Students in Information Technology and Business Information Systems top-up programme, he revealed the State efforts to recruit thousands of new teachers and train civil servants in digital technology who would in turn help farmers in remote places.
